《語言自邇集》

也許你已經聽說過「威妥瑪拼音系統」，也就是19世紀末英國駐清公使的Thomas Francis Wade所制定的拼音系統。Giles在編輯《華英辭典》時，將之稍作改良編入辭典。此後這個拼音符號便廣受政府、外交、海關、電信等各機構，用來翻譯中國人名及地名等。稱為 「威翟式」Wade-Giles 拼音法。
